# FileKey > FileKey is a patented universal identifier system (U.S. Patent #6,532,481) invented by George C. Fassett, Jr. — a human-readable, DNS-like way to identify any product, file, driver, or accessory anywhere on the internet. Owned and licensed by Fassett Investments, Inc. FileKey works like a DNS for products: a single human-readable code (e.g. `Nokia5200.1`) resolves through a hierarchy of FileKey servers to authoritative product data — replacing local, siloed UPC databases with a universal, cross-referenceable system. Available for licensing and partnership. ## Pages - [Home](/): Overview of FileKey, the patent, the inventor, and licensing contact. - [Archive](/archive): Faithful rebuild of the original 2006 filekey.com — the original technical overview of the FileKey system. - [U.S. Patent #6,532,481 (PDF)](/__l5e/assets-v1/): Official USPTO patent document hosted on this site. ## Contact - Email: info@fassettinvestments.com
